Recently VisitorsCoverage Travel Insurance Solutions donated $2,500 to Akshaya Patra as sponsorship towards the 2014 Benefit Event that was held at San Francisco. This money will be used to aid the cause of The Akshaya Patra Foundation and provide food for education to children who struggle with malnutrition in India.
By providing money towards food for education, VisitorsCoverage has helped Akshaya Patra reach out to more children and give them access to healthy, tasty food every day, and provide them with an avenue to get educated in the process. This generous contribution has helped release some children from a cycle of hunger and illiteracy that plagues generations in India.
Through the mid-day meal programme Akshaya Patra currently reaches out to over 1.4 million children across 10,661 Government and Government aided schools across 23 locations in India. Through the Public-Private Partnership model with the Government of India, Akshaya Patra enables donors to feed a child the mid-day meal for an entire year on just Rs. 750 ($15/£10). This small amount of money has the ability to not just keep a little child healthy and active, but also provides him/her with an incentive to attend school and get educated for another year.
This donation from VisitorsCoverage is extremely generous and assists Akshaya Patra greatly in its mission of feeding 5 million children by 2020.
