How can a child make the right choices in life with a mind consumed by hunger? Driven by the need to get together enough food for just one meal a day, millions of children across India are forced to engage in unsavoury activities to survive.
Akshaya Patra’s latest film ‘The Possibilities’ highlights the path and pressures children succumb to fight hunger. The short film shot in a single take captures the futility of their struggles and the bleakness of their future.

However, The Possibilities also stresses the way out of these situations for the children. The film talks about the importance of the mid-day meal programme and showcases how by providing the free, nutritious, filling meal on every school day, children can be given the opportunity to succeed in life.
The film was released on 14th November, 2014, on Children’s Day. The film has achieved great impact through the use of the sound track ‘Naan Yen Piranthen’ the popular song generously donated as the background track of the film by famous musician A.R. Rahman and Viacom/MTV.
Speaking about the film Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation said, “The Possibilities’ relays a strong message about the importance of the mid-day programme. We believe the film will touch many hearts and bring nutritious food to more underserved children of our nation. We are immensely delighted and honoured as the legendary musician, Mr. A. R. Rahman has kindly agreed to donate his popular track ‘Naan Yen…’ as a background track enhancing the impact of the film. We are also grateful to Viacom/ MTV for helping us use the track for the benefit of children. The music complements the essence of the film and sends out a powerful message.”
